Admissions Process Overview

The Winston School is delighted that you are applying for admission for your child. Please let us know if you have any questions about the process or the school. The Admission office can be reached directly at (214) 265-4122.

In order to complete the enrollment process, please complete the checklist items listed below, including submission of all supplemental enrollment forms. All supplemental information must be submitted to be considered for admission.

Step 1) Complete an online inquiry form, requesting more information.

  • This will get your child in our system, and an email will be generated with links to obtain additional information, upload their testing reports, and contact specific admission staff members. 

Step 2) Submit Psycho-Educational (and/or) Psychological Testing (full battery to include Cognitive / Intelligence, Achievement / Academic, Social, Emotional, Behavioral):

  • Cognitive / Intelligence Test Examples: Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WPPSI-IV, WISC-V or WAIS-IV) or Woodcock-Johnson – Fourth Edition: Tests of Cognitive Ability (WJ-IV) and in some cases, the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children – Second Edition (KABC-II)
  • Achievement / Academic Test Examples: Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Fourth Edition (WIAT-4); Woodcock-Johnson – Fourth Edition: Tests of Achievement (WJ-IV); Kaufman, Test of Educational Achievement (KTEA-3)
  • Social, Emotional Behavioral Test Examples: This testing is not always completed using a formal measure, sometimes it is based on observations and parent or teacher reports. Sometimes formal measures are used, such as the Behavior Assessment System for Children - Third Edition (BASC-3), Brown Executive Function / Attention Scales (Brown EF/A)

  • Special Education Paperwork: If your child is recieving or has recieved special education services, they were evaluated in the above areas, and you can submit that paperwork. The evaluation should be captured on a document titled "Full Individual Evaluation" (FIE). The plan of supports and services they are recieving should be documented on a document titled Admission Review Dismissal (ARD) or Individual Education Plan (IEP). Please submit both the FIE and the IEP/ARD. 

Step 3) Submit completed Online Application and application fee of $195

To begin the Online Application process you must first Create an Account. Parents that register for a new Online Application account will be required to verify their email address. After registering, the parents will receive an email asking them to click a link to verify their account.

Then, log into your account and click the Create a New Student Application button. You will then have the flexibility to log in and out of your account, save what you’ve done, and continue editing until you submit the application.

After submitting the application, you will be able to log into your account to:

  •           Track online your admission status
  •           Print the completed application
  •           Monitor receipt of supplemental application materials, and
  •           Print additional supplemental forms if necessary

Step 4) Submit school Evaluations and Transcript:

In order to arrange a student visit, Steps 1-4 must be completed first.

Step 5) Final Step of application process.  Contact Admissions Office at 214-691-6950 to schedule either a 3 day visit for school year applicants, or a student interview with Division head for summer applicants.
